Hurricane Irma was a major meteorological event that impacted the state of Florida. According to the Florida Division of Emergency Management, 6.7 million homes in the state lost power during the storm. After the storm, MACCLID brainstormed to see how we could effectively serve those affected by the storm. Through operation food truck, thousands were fed in the Tampa Bay area over a four-day span in order to provide food to those in need until their power was restored. Trucks located in St. Petersburg, Tampa, Gulfport and Riverview provided an essential product: food.
